Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, spread over 1700 sq km,having three main core zones-Moharli,Kolsa and Kolara. It carries the weight of age. This is an old forest, one that feels settled into its land in eastern Maharashtra. The air is dry, the light is sharp, and the forest floor lies bare for much of the year, revealing tracks, movement, and signs that are often hidden elsewhere.
The landscape is straightforward—teak trees spaced wide apart, bamboo thickets, rocky patches, and open ground that holds heat through the day. Water is scarce outside the monsoon, and the lakes and reservoirs become quiet centres around which the forest gathers. There is little softness here; Tadoba does not conceal itself.
Wildlife exists close to the surface. Tigers, leopards, sloth bears, gaur, and deer share a forest where visibility comes naturally, not by chance. Encounters feel direct, shaped by the openness of the land rather than dramatic terrain or dense cover.
Birds remain part of the everyday fabric, more than 200 species are seen—present around water, along forest roads, and in the canopy—but never overwhelming the mood. Their calls carry clearly in the stillness, especially in the early hours.
Tadoba’s essence lies in its honesty. It is a forest without ornament—sunlit, exposed, and deliberate—where the wild feels immediate and unfiltered, shaped more by climate and ground than by grandeur.
Namaskar, I am Dr Suneet Raut. Myself and my wife, Dr Sushila visited Kanha National park, last year, by April 2025. Our close friend, Dr Prakash Babu, called me whether we were interested doing this Safari trip. As we both are nature lovers, and having visited Tadoba and other sanctuaries, were delighted by this call. It was last week of April. We flew from Mumbai to Jabalpur, then to Kanha sanctuary. I must say,the total experience of those 4 days was WONDERFUL. The flights, transportation to and fro by road, the accommodation, food, overall comforts and personal attention and care of Curated Canopy Safaris was exceptional. One thing I would like to mention, that, Dr Prakash himself is a wildlife enthusiast, has a deep knowledge of birds and animals, has good knowledge of flora and fauna. His planning is meticulous and punctual. His venture CURATED CANOPY Safaris is dependable service. We both look forward to join his safaries in future also. -- Dr Suneet Raut, Palghar

Dr. Prakash Babu is a true and passionate naturalist, and the ideal person to begin his venture, Curated Canopy Safaris. It is rightly said that a true naturalist is best suited to design wildlife safaris, as such a person is deeply well-versed with nature, flora, and fauna. Dr. Babu brings with him rich and varied experiences from safaris and sanctuaries across India. Along with wildlife exploration, he consistently strives to inculcate a love and respect for nature among the common man. Living in harmony with nature is essential for the survival of our ecology, which today stands at the edge of a cliff, challenged by increasing human impact. We wish him the very best in pursuing his passion, not only through curated wildlife experiences but also in contributing towards the protection of sanctuaries and wildlife. Apart from this, his deep knowledge of birdlife, combined with immersive wildlife exploration, truly serves as a panacea for human stress.
Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, located in eastern Maharashtra, spans around 1700 square kilometres and is one of India’s oldest and most well-known forests. The core zones include Moharli, Kolara, and Navegaon. A safari in Tadoba lets you experience wildlife up close in an open, dry forest.
The terrain here is mostly flat and open, with teak trees spaced out, patches of bamboo, and rocky ground that stays warm through the day. Water sources become important, especially outside the monsoon season, as they attract animals. This openness makes it easier to track wildlife movement and improves your chances of sightings.
Pench is often associated with Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book, giving it a unique cultural connection alongside its ecological importance.
Pench is a mix of open woodland and water-based habitats, spread across both Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. This landscape makes wildlife sightings easier and more frequent.
Also spotted: Wild Dogs (Dhole), Chital (~40,000), Sambar, Barking Deer & 300+ Bird Species
Pench is known for its rich variety of wildlife, making it a great place for a jungle safari.
The park has a healthy population of tigers, and sightings are fairly common, especially in areas with good prey movement.
The reserve is home to leopards, sloth bears, wild dogs and jungle cats though they are harder to spot. These predators play an important role in maintaining the ecological balance of the park.
Herbivores like chital, sambar, nilgai, and wild boar are seen quite often, usually grazing in open areas or moving along forest edges. They form the main prey base for the predators.
Gaur(Indian Bison) are seen grazing in the open grasslands.
Pench also has a rich birdlife, with both woodland and water birds present throughout the park, making it an excellent place for birdwatching as well.
Tadoba is divided into core and buffer zones, each offering a unique landscape and wildlife experience. Choosing the right zone can significantly shape your safari.
One of the most popular zones, with good chances of tiger sightings. It’s also easy to access, which makes it a common choice.
Known for its mix of forests and open areas, offering a good variety of wildlife sightings.
A quieter zone with steady animal movement, ideal if you prefer a more peaceful safari.
Less crowded and suitable for those looking for a quieter, more relaxed safari experience.
Known for its dense forests, with occasional sightings of predators and other wildlife. This zone gives a more raw and wilderness focused experience.
Tadoba offers some of the best chances to see tigers in India. The open forest makes it easier to spot animals compared to denser reserves.
The park is home to tigers, leopards, sloth bears, gaur, and different species of deer. Because the visibility is good, you often feel close to the wildlife, which makes the experience more direct and engaging.
Tadoba also has over 200 species of birds. They are commonly seen near water sources, along forest paths, and in the canopy, adding to the overall safari experience.
Best time for sightings as animals are more active.
Ideal for observing predator movement and enjoying the scenic beauty of the forest. (Timings may vary slightly depending on the season)
October - February
Pleasant weather, excellent for enjoying the wildlife and birdwatching.
March - June
Best time to see tigers near water sources
July - September
